QUALIFIED MERCHANT MARINERS

Applications for specialized training of qualified Able Seafarer/Deck rated sailors are now being accepted by the Sailors' Union of the Pacific and Andrew Furuseth School of Seamanship.

Mariners with valid a Merchant Mariner Credential, TWIC, and U.S. Passport should fill out an application (below or on the home page) and send in with copies of all documents and endorsements. More information can be obtained by calling 415 777 3400 or emailing matt@sailors.orgeditor@sailors.org, or dave@sailors.org.

SUP Upgrade Training requirements

(If you are eligible for medical benefits, then you are eligible for upgrade training benefits.)

Completed AFSS training application scanned and emailed to berittrainrep@sbcglobal.net with the following attachments:

  • Scanned copies of discharges to verify required sea time needed for the upgrade training being requested
  • Scanned copies of all pages of your MMC

 

Sailors' Union of the Pacific membership

 

Completed AFSS training application scanned and emailed with the following attachments:

  • Scanned copies of all pages of your MMC
  • Scanned copy of your Basic Safety Training (STCW 98) certificate
  • Scanned copy of TWIC card
  • Scanned copy of U.S. Passport (you must be a U.S. citizen to apply)
  • Scanned copies of signed DD Form 2760 and Laudadd Form, which verify that you have not been convicted of a domestic violence offense or felony.
  • Scanned copy of a negative TB/PPD test that is no less than a month old. MSC approved testing clinics can be found through the link below:

All documents must be scanned in PDF format.

All MSC/Patriot applications are valid for one (1) year from date received via email and will only be considered if the applicant is current on dues or registration.

Applying for MSC/Patriot training does not guarantee access to training, only for consideration thereto.
